Social Services, along with the Clerk of Court, Law Enforcement, Guardian Ad Litem, and the District Attorney's Office, work to protect children from abuse and neglect.

Attention Crisis Intervention Applicants: please read the attached notice/document regarding your responsibility in providing your electric bill when you apply for CIP. Please click the above link "customer news and information to see attached document.

 Chowan DSS currently has funds available for child care assistance for working families or others that may qualify, however funds are limited. Please contact or visit the agency to see if you may be eligible for assistance with your child care needs. 

Youth Employment Certificates are  not available through the Chowan County Department of Social Services for Chowan County youth that have landed a job. You must first obtain the certificate before you begin working .
