 Notice of Special Joint Meeting & Public Hearing

The Chowan County Board of Commissioners and the Town of Edenton Town Council will hold a special joint meeting and public hearing on Monday, February 24, 2025 at 5:30pm. The special joint meeting and public hearing will be held in the College of the Albemarle Culinary Arts Building (118 Blades St., Edenton, NC).

The purpose of this special joint meeting and public hearing will be for both Boards to hear public comments, discuss and consider the County and Town entering into a new Memorandum of Understanding & Agreement regarding the relocation of the Confederate Monument from its present location on South Broad Street  to property owned by Chowan County and located behind the Chowan County Courthouse in the open space between the Chowan County Detention Center and the Veterans Memorial. The Town’s proposed Memorandum of Understanding & Agreement will be made available for public inspection at the offices of the County Manager and Town Manager

Notice of quorum

The Chowan County Board of Commissioners have been invited to observe a work session of the Edenton-Chowan Board of Education on Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 2pm to 3pm. The Board of Education meeting is advertised as an all-day work session which will be held at the Professional Development Center 110 Blades Street Edenton NC. A quorum of County Commissioners will be present for a session from 2pm to 3pm. The Session is a presentation from Dare County Commissioners and Dare County Schools on their process for strategic and annual budgeting.

No official County Business will be conducted during this presentation.
