Notice of Public Hearing – Chowan County Board of Commissioners
The Chowan County Board of Commissioners will hold a Special Meeting on Monday, July 27, 2026 at 6:00pm at the Chowan County Public Safety Center, 305 West Freemason St. Edenton, NC.

This meeting will be a public hearing for an amendment to the FY 2026-27 Chowan County Budget in accordance with NCGS159-15. On July 13th Senate Bill 474 is scheduled to became law, which places Chowan County in a one-year moratorium (SB 889) from which Chowan County was previously exempt. Because of the change in law, Chowan County is required to amend the 2026-27 budget to reflect the 2022 schedule of values with a tax rate necessary to balance the budget.

The proposed budget amendment is available for public inspection at the Chowan County Manager’s Office, 305 West Freemason St. Edenton, NC as well as the Chowan County website www.chowancounty-nc.gov  .

Citizens will be given the opportunity to address the Board at this hearing.
