Help Do Your Part

• Over 1.6 million children run away each year
• Over 40,000 of them will be involved in some type of sexual exploitation or victimization
• The average age a child enters prostitution is 14, however, children as young as 9 are being exploited
• The short and long term effects are devestating. Mental illness, physical and emotional abuse, violence, health problems, substance abuse, and even death are happening to these children

Help do your part:

• Volunteer or support an agency, such as National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, that help children stay safe
• Report suspicious behaviors of adults or children acting in a criminal way to law enforcement
• Report suspected caretaker abuse or neglect to the local Social Service Department
• Talk about these issues with your children and give them the tools to fight any potential exploitation
