NOTICE - Upset Bids currently being accepted for the sale of Real Property owned by Chowan County

Chowan County will receive bids to purchase real property owned by Chowan County and will follow procedures set forth for disposal of the property through upset bids. The following properties are listed with the current minimum bid  required and the property description. 

Conforming bids must be delivered to Chowan County via the Chowan County Tax Office Window located on the first floor of the Chowan County Public Safety Center 305 West Freemason St. Edenton, NC.  A deposit of five percent (5%) of the total bid, in the form of certified check or money order, must accompany any new bid. A completed offer to purchase form must also accompany each bid. Offer to Purchase Forms may be found online or at the Chowan County Tax Office.

All bids must be received no later than Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 5:00pm.

Following the receipt of the initial bids, the County will initiate the upset bid advertisement procedure in accordance with NCGS 160A-269. The Chowan County Board of Commissioners may reject any and all offers.

Real property owned by Chowan County located at 132 Cheyenne Trail.  (PIN 6970-08-79-9512) The subject property is approximately .26 acres that was acquired by Chowan County in 2022 through tax foreclosure.

149 Green Road – Minimum Bid $200

Real property owned by Chowan County located at 149 Green Road.  (PIN 6981-00-88

5366) The subject property is approximately .52 acres that was acquired by Chowan County in 2023 through tax foreclosure.

“Off Coral Lane” – Minimum Bid $400

Real property owned by Chowan County located off Coral Lane.  (PIN 7813-14-45-2044) The subject property is approximately .28 acres that was acquired by Chowan County in 2025 through tax foreclosure.

301 East Church Street – Minimum Bid $100

Real property owned by Chowan County located at 301 East Church Street.  (PIN 7804-08-89-0227) The subject property is approximately .02 acres that was acquired by Chowan County in 2025 through tax foreclosure.

Real property owned by Chowan County located at 115 Mic Mac Trail.  (PIN 6971-20-70-8004) The subject property is approximately .12 acres that was acquired by Chowan County in 2025 through tax foreclosure.

Real property owned by Chowan County located at 1511 Sac Trail - Lot 65 -(PIN 6971-20-90-3857), The subject property is approximately .13 acres that was acquired by Chowan County in 2025 through tax foreclosure.

1513 Sac Trail – Minimum Bid $100

Real property owned by Chowan County located at 1513 Sac Trail - Lot 64 (PIN 6971-20-90-3980), The subject property is approximately .13 acres that was acquired by Chowan County in 2025 through tax foreclosure.

103 Colony Dr – Minimum Bid $1,000

Real property owned by Chowan County located at 103 Colony Drive.  (PIN 7813-07-58-8539) The subject property is approximately .69 acres that was acquired by Chowan County in 2026 through tax foreclosure. At the time of this listing the GIS has not updated to reflect the combination of lots 36 and 37 (103 Colony Drive and 105 Colony Drive). However, the two lots have been successfully combined and recorded in Deed Book 610 page 595 of the Chowan County Public Registry.
