Animal Control
The Chowan County Animal Control Office strives to protect the health and safety of our residents, ensure humane treatment of animals, and promote responsible pet ownership through the enforcement of all State and County laws.
Animal Control Officers are responsible for investigating animal cruelty, animal nuisance complaints, and animal bites as mandated by North Carolina law and strive to educate citizens on animal welfare laws to promote proper care and humane treatment of animals.
If you are attacked or bitten by an animal, please call Animal Control to report it. Please seek medical attention if the skin has been broken.
During normal duty hours, please call (252) 482-9807.
Our normal business hours are:
Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
However, to report animal bites, aggressive or injured animals after normal business hours, please call (252) 482-4444.
